The splendid Castle Oellegaart

“Oellegaartvestte* in all its splendor”

Home of Jan Oelle

DOMAIN OELLEGAART lies along the Banggerd river, which acts as the border between Braem and Vrankke*. Its small Heerd-style* castle is best known for being the home of Jan Oelle. (Not to be confused with Oellerd Jan.)

Jan was a stoic militia-commander. After a long illustrious career at the head of the Oommers Piketroup he retreated to his homestead at  Oellegaart, where he struggled with both his wartime memories and the invasive mice on the farm.

He resolved this by devoting himself to developing and perfecting non-lethal arms and scare-tactics. Among other things he created the Oellebow: a perfectly harmless ‘ranged’ weapon meant to scare off enemy scouts and skirmishers.

Notes

Oellegaartvestte — meaning Oellegaart Castle

Braem and Vrankke — Two large regions in the southern part of Bos.
Braem is a mostly agricultural region with a fabulously fertile soil and friendly weather, while Vrankke is the most politically volatile region in Bos.

Heerd-style — or Heerddetrangt is an architectural style that evolved from traditional fortified farmsteads such as Coudeheerd.
