“Kwekbek Snuyttepluym atop his hometree.”
At your own risk…
The Boellebek is an inquisitive bird that loves to occupy an entire tree as a nest. Unless you offer him some goodies as tribute he’ll peck at your ears if you so much as touch a single leaf!
Terrific mimicry
Their warning call mimicks the sound of a tree come crashing down, the fledglings make a sound like twigs snapping or branches breaking. Older specimens -seazoned by wind and rain atop their stony crags- will get so hoarse and creaky their call sounds like lightning striking. When a flock is disturbed the resulting pandemonium would scare away anyone & anything. The birds’ mating call is likewise very suggestive, and unfit for younger audiences.
A life on stage
Boellebex* are intelligent birds, whose many calls & songs resemble just as many situations. Like stories among the other breeds of Bos, songs are shared and passed down generations. Some of the more talented Boellebirds will often find employ in theatre, to deliver a variety of sound effects. Kwekbek Snuyttepluym is a hugely popular sound actor, and is often seen travelling with famous Vievanten.
